Telegram channels: what they are, and how to create one and promote your bot with it

What is a Telegram channel?

A channel is a one-way broadcast tool: admins post messages, photos and videos, and subscribers read them without writing, although reactions and comments can be switched on. A channel has no limit on the number of subscribers.

Every post appears under the channel's name rather than the name of the person who posted it, with its view count next to it, so you know how many people your announcement reached.

The difference between a channel and a group

Channels and groups look alike, but each is designed for a different purpose:

• In a channel only admins post; in a group every member writes.
• A channel takes unlimited subscribers; a group up to 200,000 members.
• Channel subscribers do not see each other, while group members usually do.
• A channel is ideal for announcements and news, a group for discussion and questions.

Public and private channels

You choose the channel's type when you create it, and can change it later:

• A public channel has a username and a permanent link such as t.me/example_channel, and anyone can find it in search.
• A private channel does not appear in search; people join through an invite link only.
• Invite links can be limited in number or time, or require an admin's approval.

How do you create a Telegram channel?

Creating a channel takes one minute in the app:

1. Tap the new message button (the pencil icon) and choose «New Channel».
2. Type the channel's name and a short description, and add a picture.
3. Choose «Public» with a username, or «Private» with an invite link.
4. Add admins and set their rights, then post a welcome message and pin it.

How do you use a channel to promote your bot?

A channel and a bot complete each other: the bot carries out requests, and the channel draws people to it and keeps them in touch.

• Put the bot's link in the channel's description and in a pinned message.
• Publish offers and gift codes in the channel first, so subscribers have a reason to stay.
• Announce working hours, new payment methods and any planned maintenance.
• Share the channel's link with every new player and on your social media accounts.

Content ideas for a deposit bot's channel

Regular, useful content builds more trust than any advertisement. Try these ideas:

• Weekly deposit offers and limited gift codes.
• The winners of rounds and contests, without their private details.
• Short guides to depositing and withdrawing, with pictures or video.
• Safety reminders: the bot's official link, and warnings about fake bots.
• Short, regular posts instead of a flood of annoying ones.

Channels in Eagle bots
